CALL FOR COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS

If interested in volunteering, please contact Heather Keel at [email protected].

Why should you volunteer on a committee to support our Hawthorne community? It has practical and social benefits, especially if you plan to stay in the neighborhood for a while. Instead of reacting to decisions, you help shape them.

  • Protecting Property Values - You can maintain property values and the quality of Hawthorne living firsthand. Volunteering can help ensure problems are addressed before they become costly or detract from neighborhood appeal.
  • Influence Over Community Decisions - Serving on a committee gives you a voice in priorities, maintenance projects, landscaping and amenities, and rule changes.

Architectural Review Committee (ARC)

The Architecture Review Committee would like to ensure you are familiar with the rules and regulations regarding landscaping and exterior modifications to your home. The ARC has two openings.

Why should you volunteer on a committee to support our Hawthorne community? You gain valuable insight through the Board’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

  • Understanding of HOA Finances - This helps you understand where dues go and whether the HOA is being managed responsibly.
  • More Transparency and Accountability - Communities benefit when engaged residents participate.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee, with Hawthorne’s property management company, is responsible for safeguarding the Association's assets and ensuring that all budgets, assessments, expenditures, and audits comply with generally accepted planning and accounting principles. The Finance Committee is actively seeking additional volunteers.

Compliance Committee

The Compliance Committee conducts an administrative hearing after our Board imposes a fine against and/or suspends common area use rights of any member or any member’s tenant or guest for failure to comply with any provision of the Governing Documents. During the hearing, the member may appear in their defense to contest the penalty imposed.

Why should you volunteer on a committee to support our Hawthorne community? You can connect with your neighbors, contribute and belong to the community.

  • Personal Satisfaction – Gain a strong sense of accomplishment in helping solve visible local problems—whether that’s fixing parking issues, improving landscaping, or helping neighbors navigate concerns.
  • Building Relationships with Neighbors - HOA involvement can improve community connections and make the neighborhood feel safer and more friendly.

Facilities Committee

The Facilities Committee is responsible for maintaining and suggesting upgrades to our facilities: clubhouses, fitness rooms, pools, tennis courts, gatehouses, and community bathrooms. Our suggestions for improvement are based on our neighbors' requests to maintain and improve our facilities.

Grounds Committee

The Grounds Committee keeps a watchful eye on our trees, plants, lawns, irrigation, erosion, and littoral shelves in our 137-acre community. Working with landscape companies, we support our homes, a preserve, common ground areas, five miles of roadway, an irrigation pump house, and retention ponds. The Grounds Committee is actively seeking additional volunteers.

Social Committee

The Social Committee strives to build community engagement by encouraging neighbor-to-neighbor interactions to foster a welcoming, inclusive community. We help residents feel connected by creating opportunities for them to meet, socialize, and build relationships.

All future committee appointments will be screened and appointed by the Board.
